Surprised over a spate of "pidit police Parivar" posters surfacing in various parts of the city depicting lower-rung policemen's plights, the top police brass has ordered a probe into their overnight spurt.

An enquiry was ordered Monday after surfacing of the posters, seeking redressal of police personnel's grievances went viral on various social media, an official said.

The city residents were taken by surprise Sunday morning after finding a spate of "pidit police Parivar" posters covering the walls of the offices of senior officials like districts magistrate and superintendent of police besides some houses in posh localities like Sadar and Civil Lines in the city.

As the poster episode went viral on various social media, senior officials in the state capital ordered the removal of all the posters, he said.

The posters bore no name of any individual or organisation, but some of them mentioned 'pidit police pariwar' (victim police family), the sources said.

Sadar police post-in-charge Shalini Sahay said she got the posters removed from her area on instructions from senior officials.

Circle Officer Umesh Chandra Tyagi told reporters that an inquiry has been ordered in this connection and efforts are on to identify those who are behind the "mischief".

"We are scanning the footage of CCTV cameras installed in the area to identify those who were behind pasting posters," he said.

It could be the handiwork of some mischievous elements in the force, he said.
