Punjab gets a high alert after 6 suspected terrorists spotted in Pathankot near Pakistan border. The place has already been declared a high alert. Based on the reports, the suspected terrorists were carrying backpacks. Previously thought they were in Army fatigues, later the local police confirmed that the men were in salwar-kameez.
"We have cordoned the area, search is on. Appeal to people to give us info and cooperate with us. It can't yet be linked to reports of a car abandoned around 25 km away by suspicious men, that probe is on separately," Punjab Police said while appealing cooperation from the local people.
The Punjab Police and Indian Army have already initiated search operations to locate the suspected terrorists. They are also using posters in the state to help people identify Musa, the founder and chief of Al-Qaeda cell Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind. Reports from the Intelligence agencies claim that he and his aides may be contemplating to move towards India's capital city.
Recent report released by ANI says that a local person has spotted 3 to 4 suspicious men in Pathankot. Two of them spotted in Shadipur village of Pathankot's Taragarh area on November 23, Friday night, India Today noted. A local farmer spotted the terrorists who were later seen entering a sugarcane field. The place where they were spotted is just 13 km away from the Indo-Pakistan border.
More details awaited on it.
