Mozambique police arrests over 200 suspects after brutal attack by Islamic terrorists

Mozambique police have arrested over 200 suspects in the last three days following the death of 12 people in a suspected Islamic attack in Mozambique on Friday, November 23.

There was an attack in Nangane district, where there are no security patrols. The attackers killed 12 people, mostly women and children, a police official said in Cabo Delgado province. This was the third such incident in the last month in Cabo Delgado, leaving 20 dead altogether.

The attack took place a few kilometers from the Tanzanian border, where Mozambique does not have security patrols, as reported by EWN. The suspected Islamic attack in the northern province of Mozambique (Cabo Delgado) has caused thousands to escape in Tanzania by crossing the nearby border.

The militants killed the villagers with machetes and burnt their homes. The activities of Islamic militants have become more active in the region in the last one year and creating unrest as Mozambique authorities are pressing ahead with oil and gas operations in Cabo Delgado.
