The women's society in the province of Bié announced on December 4 that it intends to create a women's group to raise awareness and combat all forms of domestic violence until next year to prevent cases of aggression against women and children.
The deputy curator of Records of the District of Bié, Olga Dias revealed the information at the end of a lecture on "Moralizing Women in the Culture of Denouncing Domestic Violence."
According to the official, it is also the intention of this group to raise the attention of the population as well as of the legislative organs to "take to heart" this issue as one of the main crimes that is destroying the families in the province.
Data from the provincial Office of Social Action, Family and Gender Equality point to the occurrence of 327 cases of various violence practised from January to November this year in the nine municipalities of Bié.
