The Mbanza Kongo City, capital of the northern Zaire Province, will host on 7 to 9 July, 2019 a cultural festival dubbed Festicongo, which is to have participations from the states that were part of the former Kingdom of Kongo, namely Congo Brazzaville, DR Congo, Gabon and the host country, Angola.

The event is also counting on participation from Cameroon, Chad and Equatorial-Guinea, an information that was provided last Thursday, in Luanda, by Culture minister Carolina Cerqueira in the end of the second meeting of the multi-sectoral Commission for the Safeguarding of World Cultural Heritage, a gathering that was chaired by the Angolan Vice President, Bornito de Sousa.

Carolina Cerqueira stressed that Festicongo will become a Great artistic manifestation, in the ambit of UNESCO's recognition last year of Mbanza Kongo as a World Heritage Site.

The authorities intend to make the city become one of the main international cultural samples in the ambit of the Biennial of Peace set for the year 2019, in Angola.
