Muhammed Lamin Saidykhan is one of the co-movement coordinators of Africans Rising for Justice, Peace and Dignity. He was also nominated for the African Youth of the Year (Male) but lost to Ato Ulzen- Appiah, director, GhanaThink Foundation, as reported by The Point.

Saidykhan has described the award as critical and important for him as a young person, saying he dedicated it to young people and women of Gambia and also overall Africa that he has worked with.

He said that the award would serve as a motivation and encouragement for him. “We can make Africa a better continent that our children will be proud of,” he opined.

Saidykhan further highlighted that the small Gambia can do big things as well as pave the way in championing human rights and democracy across the continent. He called on Gambians to be more proactive as well as put the country first and do away from dividing elements. He is a Gambian with a background of youth and women development, campaigns for social change, policy advocacy and movement building.
