Tourism boom in Cape Verde aims to attract over 1 million tourists by 2020

Cape Verde, which is an island country spanning an archipelago of 10 volcanic islands in the central Atlantic Ocean, is said to be on the verge of a hotel development wave if the government fulfils its vows of improving infrastructure and transport links.

Compared to the current hotel supply, Cape Verde government looks forward to attracting over a million tourist by 2020. Jorge Carlos Fonseca, the current President of Cape Verde (or Cabo Verde) said on Monday, January 7 that there were signs of a kind of populism in the country. While addressing the media, Jorge Carlos Fonseca said there were signs of populism over social networks and in the press, which he said could be 'seductive'.

According to the 68-year old politician, the greatest challenge for 2019 was the 'consolidation of reforms' that began with the new government, and that he said aimed to augment the efficiency of the Cape Verdean parliament.
