Africa's leading oil company, Tullow Oil looks forward to completing the construction of USD 1 billion oil pipeline in Kenya by 2022.

Martin Mbogo, the Managing Director of Tullow Oil has confirmed the reports saying that the pipeline is going to be joint venture between the government and Kenya Joint Venture whose shareholders are Tullow, Africa Oil and Total. According to Mbogo, the pipeline is set to be 821 kilometers long, which will transport about 80,000 barrels of oil per day from the Lokichar oilfields in Northern Kenya to the Lamu seaport. The project is said to be financed by 70 percent debt and 30 percent equity.

The discussions on the project, as revealed by Mbogo, is set to take place during International Petroleum Week 2019 that is slated to take place from February 26 to 28. It is expected to attract big players in the oil and gas industry.
