President of Uganda, Yoweri Museveni met with a Communist Party of China (CPC) delegation on April 3 led by Bayinchaolu, member of the CPC Central Committee and secretary of the CPC Jilin Provincial Committee.

In the meeting held in the northern Ugandan district of Gulu, Museveni spoke highly of Chinese President Xi Jinping's thought of socialism with Chinese characteristics for the new era and the historic achievements of China's development and thanked China for giving enormous support to Uganda. Uganda is willing to deepen inter-party cooperation with China, actively participate in the Belt and Road construction, and lift bilateral relations to a new height, he said.

Bayinchaolu gave an extensive introduction to Xi's thought of socialism with Chinese characteristics for the new era, and said China will jointly implement the consensuses reached by the two heads of state and the results of the Beijing Summit of the China-Africa Cooperation Forum last September, Xinhua reported.

China will also promote the joint construction of the Belt and Road, and strengthen bilateral cooperation in agriculture, poverty alleviation, industrial parks and at local levels, he said. Bayinchaolu also met with Ugandan Vice President Edward Kiwanuka Ssekandi and held talks with Justine Kasule Lumumba, secretary general of Uganda's National Resistance Movement.
