Cong says will fight ‘wrong policies’ of govt towards people of J-K

The Congress on Saturday expressed concern over the rising unemployment, and an unprecedented price hike in petrol, diesel and other essentials and resolved to fight against the "wrong policies" adopted by the government towards the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

The party held a meeting of senior leaders, former ministers and former legislators here to discuss the current situation in J-K, besides holding discussions on organisational affairs and activities, a party spokesman said.

He said many issues of public importance, besides other developmental issues concerning J-K, also came under discussion.

All India Congress Committee in charge for J-K, and Ladakh organisational affairs Rajani Patil, who was on a five-day visit to J-K, presided over the meeting and received feedback with regard to the current socio-political scenario in the UT.

JKPCC president Ghulam Ahmad Mir also addressed the meeting.

The meeting devised the roadmap with regard to political activities, besides organisational affairs and activities to be adopted in the coming days, the spokesman said.

Apart from other issues concerning J-K, the meeting expressed serious concern over the rising unemployment, unprecedented price hike in petrol, diesel and other essentials and resolved to fight against the wrong policies adopted by the government towards the people of J-K, he said.

Earlier, Patil, accompanied by Mir, visited the Dargah Hazratbal shrine here and paid obeisance.

Both the leaders prayed for peace, stability and prosperity of the people, the spokesman said.

Patil also called on Lt Governor Manoj Sinha at Raj Bhawan here and discussed the current situation in J-K, he said.

She was accompanied by the JKPCC president, the spokesman added.
