Badal Choudhury blames BJP for assaulting CPI(M) leader in South Tripura

A CPI(M) leader was allegedly assaulted by some people outside the office of the Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Belonia in South Tripura district, police said Wednesday.

CPI(M) central committee leader Badal Choudhury Wednesday said Dutta, the party's Belonia sub-division unit secretary was assaulted allegedly by BJP activists on his way to SDM office for a meeting called by the SMD on Tuesday.

BJP state spokesman Ashok Sinha denied the allegations of Chowdhury. Superintendent of police, South Tripura, Jal Singh Meena said CPI(M) leaders lodged an FIR at Belonia police station against Sanatan Sena leader Mrinal Sen and five others accusing them of the attack on Tuesday.
