White House drug summit will focus on fighting synthetic drugs

The Biden administration will fight the threat from synthetic and illicit drugs with tools such as medications to reverse opioid overdoses as well as data, a top official said during a drug summit at the White House on Tuesday.

An "unprecedented" number of people are being lost to overdoses and poisonings in the United States every year, said Rahul Gupta, director of the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy.
