Former Polish lawmakers are not political prisoners, says deputy minister

Two former Polish ministers who were sent to prisoner on Tuesday are not political prisoners and any prisoner has the right to refuse to eat and drink if they so choose, Deputy Justice Minister Maria Ejchart said on Wednesday.

Former Polish Interior Minister Mariusz Kaminski, who was detained and sent to prison on Tuesday following a conviction for abuse of power in a previous role, is starting a hunger strike, he said in a statement earlier on Wednesday.
