Bharatiya Janata Party's new recruit, Sita Soren on Thursday said that it is only the BJP where women are treated with respect, adding that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is playing a huge role in strengthening women's empowerment in the country. Addressing a press conference, Sita Soren said, "PM Modi is working for the empowerment of women. BJP made Droupadi Murmu the President of the Nation, the first citizen of the country, who comes from a small village in Odisha. Legislation was passed in Parliament for women's reservation. So I observed that it is only in the BJP that women are getting respect".

Sita Soren is the wife of Hemant Soren's late elder brother, Durga Soren, who died in 2009. Claiming that she demanded an investigation into her husband's death, Sita Soren said, "Definitely, I feel there is a conspiracy (death of Durga Soren). I always demanded an investigation be made but they (JMM) never paid any heed to it."

Meanwhile, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha leader Supriyo Bhattacharya said that Sita Soren has been made to join the BJP to make such remarks. "Bhabhiji (Sita Soren) has gotten late now. When she was joining the BJP, Nishikant Dubey had tweeted in this regard. So Bhabhi is late now in making this remark. To make her say such things, a conspiracy has been done by them (BJP) to break the family," he said.

Sita Soren joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on March 19. After resigning from the membership of JMM, Sita Soren tendered her resignation from the membership of the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly. She was the general secretary of the JMM. (ANI)
