Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang met with Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya on Monday, presenting a resolution passed by the newly-elected MLAs of the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) to elect him as their legislature party leader. Tamang hopes to stake his claim for forming the next government, as confirmed by an official source.

Accompanied by all the newly-elected SKM MLAs, the meeting took place at the Raj Bhavan, where Governor Acharya congratulated the MLAs and extended his best wishes.

The specific date for the swearing-in ceremony of the chief minister and his council of ministers remains unclear. On Sunday evening, outgoing CM Tamang submitted his resignation to the Governor to facilitate the establishment of a new government. Despite the resignation, Acharya requested Tamang to continue in his role temporarily.

In the recent assembly elections, SKM secured a landslide victory by winning 31 out of 32 seats, with the opposition SDF claiming one seat.
