In a significant development, stringent security arrangements have been established across the Kashmir Valley as the counting of votes for three Lok Sabha constituencies proceeds. Officials have confirmed the deployment of additional security personnel at strategic locations to maintain order.

A three-tier security blanket surrounds the counting centres in Srinagar, Baramulla, and Anantnag, preventing any unauthorized access. Tight surveillance is also in place around the strong rooms where electronic voting machines are securely stored.

The elections, held in five phases, saw more than 50% voter turnout, marking a record for the region. Notably, prominent political figures, including PDP president Mehbooba Mufti and National Conference vice president Omar Abdullah, are among the 66 candidates competing for these crucial seats. As the counting process unfolds, returning officers have briefed candidates and party representatives on the stipulated procedures.
