In the latest political development in Haryana, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has secured a significant lead over his Congress rival, Tarlochan Singh, in the Karnal assembly bypoll. According to Election Commission data, Saini is ahead by a margin of 13,668 votes.

The bypoll was necessitated following the resignation of former Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar. Saini, who currently serves as the Kurukshetra MP, took office as the Chief Minister on March 12.

Voting for the Karnal assembly seat and 10 Lok Sabha seats in the state was conducted simultaneously on May 25. The counting of votes commenced at 8 am on Tuesday, adding a new chapter to Haryana's political landscape.
