In a fiercely contested Odisha assembly election, the BJP has emerged as the frontrunner, leading in 74 seats according to the Election Commission of India.
Meanwhile, BJD nominees were ahead in 56 of the 147 constituencies where the latest trends were available as of 12:45 PM. Congress has managed to secure leads in 14 seats.
Several incumbent ministers are trailing, including Assembly Speaker Pramila Mallik, Finance Minister Bikram Arukha, and others. However, Minister Jagannath Saraka is leading in Bissam Cuttack.
The counting process is currently underway in 70 centers statewide. Notable leaders like CPI(M) MLA Laxman Munda in Bonai constituency, and Independent candidate Soumya Ranjan Patnaik in Ghasipura, are also leading in their respective seats.
