Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has voiced optimism that the BJP-led NDA is on course to form the next government at the Centre, buoyed by favorable vote counting trends in Assam's Dibrugarh Lok Sabha constituency.

In contrast, Congress' deputy leader in the outgoing Lok Sabha, Gaurav Gogoi, who is leading in Jorhat constituency, indicated that the results suggest a new trend emerging in the country.

As per the Election Commission's website at 12:45 pm, BJP and its allies are leading in nine of Assam's 14 Lok Sabha seats, while Congress leads in three, pointing towards a strong showing for the NDA.
