In a significant development, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya is poised for a victory in the Porbandar Lok Sabha seat of Gujarat.
Mandaviya is currently leading by over 3.8 lakh votes as the vote-counting process approaches its conclusion. The latest figures show Mandaviya with 6.25 lakh votes, overshadowing his nearest Congress rival, Lalit Vasoya, who has garnered 2.45 lakh votes.
This election marks Mandaviya's maiden foray into the Lok Sabha, following his tenure as an MLA from the Palitana assembly seat in Bhavnagar district in 2002 and subsequent Rajya Sabha membership. Vasoya, also a Patidar community member, had earlier won from Dhoraji in 2017 but was defeated in 2022 before losing another bid for the Porbandar seat.
