Women Candidates Dominate as Smriti Irani and Maneka Gandhi Trail in General Elections

In a significant turn of events in the general elections, women candidates are taking a commanding lead across various constituencies. Notable figures such as Selja of Congress from Sirsa, BJP's Kangana Ranaut from Mandi, Hema Malini from Mathura, Dimple Yadav from Mainpuri, and Misha Bharti from Pataliputra are all ahead by substantial margins.

Conversely, prominent incumbent MPs like Amethi's Smriti Irani and Sultanpur's Maneka Gandhi are trailing by significant numbers. As of 3.35 pm, Selja has surged ahead in Sirsa with over 2.5 lakh votes, while Kangana Ranaut is leading by over 70,000 votes in Himachal Pradesh's Mandi.

Moreover, Hema Malini is holding a strong lead in Mathura with over 2 lakh votes against her Congress rival. Dimple Yadav and Misha Bharti are also maintaining comfortable leads in their respective constituencies. In total, 797 women contested in this year's Lok Sabha elections, marking a notable presence in the political arena.
