BJP Triumphs in Odisha Assembly Elections

The BJP secured eight Assembly seats and led in 73 others in Odisha, with significant wins in constituencies like Chilika and Bargarh. The BJD and Congress also saw mixed results, but several BJD ministers, including Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, trailed in various segments.

The BJP secured eight Assembly seats in Odisha and was leading in 73 other constituencies, according to the Election Commission of India.

The BJD won one seat and was leading in 47 constituencies out of the 147 Assembly seats, it said.

The Congress won one seat and was ahead in 13 Assembly segments.

Among significant victories, BJP's Prithviraj Hairchandran won the Chilika Assembly constituency by 4,566 votes over BJD's Raghunath Sahu. Additionally, Ashwini Kumar Sarangi clinched the Bargarh Assembly seat with a 4,772-vote margin against Debesh Acharya of BJD.

Highlighting further successes, BJP's Durga Prasad Tanti took the Raghunathpalli segment by 5,774 votes, and Tankadhar Tripathy won the Jharsuguda seat by 1,333 votes. BJD's Sarada Prasad Nayak secured Rourkela Assembly against BJP's Dilip Kumar Ray by 3,552 votes.

BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik trailed BJP's Laxman Bag in Kantabanji Assembly and led over Sisir Kumar Mishra in Hinjili. Congress's Mangu Khilla won the Chitrakonda Assembly by defeating BJP’s Dambaru Sisa by 9,151 votes. Notably, at least eight ministers in the Naveen Patnaik cabinet are trailing.
