The BJP's Vivek Bunty Sahu made history on Tuesday as he defeated sitting Congress MP Nakul Nath in the Chhindwara Lok Sabha constituency of Madhya Pradesh by a margin of 1,13,618 votes. This surprising upset marks the first breach of the Nath family's stronghold in years. Nakul's father, veteran Congress leader Kamal Nath, had secured the seat nine times, while his wife Alka Nath and Nakul himself had also represented the constituency.
Sahu garnered an impressive 6,44,738 votes compared to Nakul Nath's 5,31,120, signaling a significant political shift. The BJP had previously won 28 out of 29 seats in Madhya Pradesh during the 2019 elections but failed to breach the Chhindwara bastion—until now.
Kamal Nath graciously accepted the defeat and expressed satisfaction over the INDIA alliance's performance across the country. In response to the BJP's ambitious '400 paar' slogan, he remarked that the party had not even managed to reach the figure of 230.
