In a closely contested battle, Congress leader Hamdulla Sayeed emerged victorious in the Lakshadweep Lok Sabha seat, defeating NCP(S) candidate Mohammed Faizal P P by a margin of 2,647 votes.

Sayeed, a former MP, garnered a total of 25,726 votes, while Faizal, the incumbent MP, received 23,079 votes. The election witnessed a robust voter turnout, with 48,468 of the 57,784 registered voters in Lakshadweep casting their ballots.

The polling, held on April 19 during phase 1 of the elections, saw Sayeed leading right from the start of the vote counting, ensuring a decisive win for the Congress party in this fiercely contested constituency.
