Assam Lok Sabha Election Results: BJP and Congress Increment in Vote Shares

In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections in Assam, both BJP and Congress saw over a one per cent increase in their vote shares. BJP’s vote share rose to 37.43% and Congress increased to 37.48%. However, NDA’s overall vote share slightly dipped, while AIUDF suffered significant losses.

In a notable development from the 2024 Lok Sabha elections in Assam, both the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress have recorded an increase in their vote shares. According to the Election Commission, BJP’s vote share rose by 1.02% to 37.43%, while Congress saw an increase of 1.69%, reaching 37.48%.

Despite these increases, the overall vote share of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) witnessed a minor dip of 0.45%. The saffron party bagged nine of the 14 Lok Sabha seats, whereas Congress secured three constituencies.

Adding to the election dynamics, the AIUDF experienced major setbacks, highlighted by its president Badruddin Ajmal's loss in Dhubri with a significant margin of over 10 lakh votes. Meanwhile, the United People's Party Liberal (UPPL) made its debut in the Lok Sabha by winning the Kokrajhar seat with a 2.43% vote share.
