In a direct challenge to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, former union minister P Chidambaram expressed doubts about the stability of Modi's coalition government. Speaking at the Congress state headquarters, Chidambaram noted Modi’s history of 'one person government' and questioned his ability to manage a coalition.

Highlighting the complexity of forming and running a coalition government, Chidambaram said, 'Uniting regional parties is no easy task, something the Congress knows all too well. Modi will now need to gain this experience.'

Comparing Modi's tenure with former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru’s record, Chidambaram dismissed Modi's claims of unprecedented success, arguing that Nehru's achievements were far superior. Chidambaram also criticized the credibility of exit polls and voiced support for improving the EVM system to ensure fair elections.
