Nimuben Bambhaniya Joins Union Cabinet as Minister of State

Nimuben Bambhaniya, a BJP candidate who secured victory in Gujarat's Lok Sabha elections, has been appointed as a minister of state in the Union cabinet. The 57-year-old ex-mayor and former teacher defeated AAP's Umesh Makwana by a significant margin and has a history in Gujarat's local politics.

Nimuben Bambhaniya, one of the three women candidates of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to win the Lok Sabha elections in Gujarat, has been inducted into the Union cabinet as a minister of state.

The 57-year-old politician triumphed over Aam Aadmi Party's Umesh Makwana by a massive 4.55 lakh votes in the Bhavnagar constituency. Bambhaniya, who served as the mayor of Bhavnagar for two terms, also held the position of vice president in the BJP Mahila Morcha's state unit. A former educator, she entered politics by winning the civic polls three times since joining the BJP in 2004.

Hailing from the OBC Koli community, Bambhaniya is supported by her husband who runs a school in Bhavnagar.
