Narendra Modi's New Council of Ministers: Rajya Sabha's Prominent Role

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's new Council of Ministers includes 11 members from the Rajya Sabha. The Council has 59 newly-elected MPs from the Lok Sabha. Some new ministers need to become members of Parliament within six months. The new team was sworn in at the Rashtrapati Bhawan.

In a significant political development, Prime Minister Narendra Modi's latest Council of Ministers, sworn in on Sunday, features 11 members from the Rajya Sabha. This marks a notable representation from the upper house in his cabinet.

The Modi 3.0 Council includes 59 newly-elected MPs from the Lok Sabha. Notably, two ministers of state, Ravneet Singh Bittu and George Kurian, are yet to secure their positions as members of either house and must do so within six months.

In total, 72 members, including the Prime Minister, 30 cabinet ministers, 5 Ministers of State with independent charge, and 36 ministers of state were sworn in during the ceremony at the Rashtrapati Bhawan. Among these, prominent Rajya Sabha members inducted as cabinet ministers include Jagat Prakash Nadda and Nirmala Sitharaman.
