European Commission chief Ursula von der Leyen on Monday said authorities had successfully tackled interference from external actors during the European Parliament elections but said this was an ongoing battle. "We have seen quite some interference not only from the inside but from the outside, concerning our public opinion," von der Leyen told reporters at a conference of Germany's centre-right CDU party in Berlin on Monday.

"We have been successful in dismantling (and) debunking this interference but certainly we have not seen it all," she added, without giving further details.
