Manoj Jarange, a prominent Maratha quota activist, has temporarily suspended his indefinite fast, only six days after initiating it. The decision came after consultations with Maharashtra minister Shambhuraj Desai and Shiv Sena MP Sandipan Bhumre in his native Antarwali Sarati village.

Addressing a gathering at the protest site, Jarange issued a stern ultimatum, giving the Maharashtra government one month to fulfill the demands of the Maratha community. He emphasized that if the demands remain unmet, he and his supporters would take their fight to the ballot box in the upcoming assembly elections.

The primary demand involves the implementation of a draft notification that recognizes Kunbis as blood relatives of the Maratha community, thereby allowing them quota benefits. Minister Desai assured that a meeting would be convened soon to discuss the demands, indicating a positive decision within a month.
