SAD Names Surjit Kaur for Jalandhar West By-Election

The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) has nominated two-time municipal councillor Surjit Kaur for the Jalandhar West reserve assembly seat by-election. The decision came from a four-member committee led by Sukhbir Singh Badal. The by-election is set for July 10, following the resignation of AAP's Sheetal Angural.

The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) officially declared Surjit Kaur, a two-time municipal councillor, as their candidate for the upcoming by-election for Jalandhar West's reserve assembly seat. This decision was made by a four-member committee headed by party president Sukhbir Singh Badal.

SAD leader Bibi Jagir Kaur highlighted Surjit Kaur's strong 'panthic' background, noting that her late husband, Pritam Singh, had also served as a councillor. Known for her extensive social work and community service, Surjit Kaur seems poised for a strong run.

The necessity for the by-election arose after Sheetal Angural of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) resigned. The election is scheduled for July 10, with the vote count occurring on July 13. Key dates in the election process include June 21 for filing nominations, June 24 for scrutiny, and June 26 as the last date for withdrawal.
