Kamal Haasan Blames Victims' Carelessness in Hooch Tragedy Aftermath

Actor-politician Kamal Haasan on Sunday commented on the recent hooch tragedy in Tamil Nadu that resulted in approximately 53 fatalities, attributing the incident to the victims' own carelessness and excessive drinking.

Speaking to reporters after visiting the survivors in a local hospital, Haasan remarked, ''I cannot say I have no sympathies for these victims. But these victims will have to understand they have exceeded their limit, and they have been careless. They have to be careful, they have to take care of their health.''

The Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) founder emphasized the need for responsible drinking and highlighted the state's abundant liquor availability through state-run TASMAC outlets. Referring to historical context, Haasan mentioned Kautilya Arthashastra and the role of a spirit inspector, stressing the need to properly systemize alcohol regulation.
