Kiren Rijiju Meets B Mahtab Ahead of Pro-Tem Speaker Swearing-In

Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju, accompanied by his deputies, met BJP leader B Mahtab before his swearing in as the pro-tem speaker of the 18th Lok Sabha. Mahtab will oversee Lok Sabha proceedings on June 24-25 and the election of the new Speaker.

Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju on Monday met with BJP leader B Mahtab as preparations are underway for Mahtab's swearing-in as the pro-tem speaker of the 18th Lok Sabha. President Droupadi Murmu will officiate the ceremony.

Accompanied by his deputies Arjun Ram Meghwal and L Murugan, Rijiju extended his best wishes to Mahtab, citing his wisdom and experience as invaluable for the journey ahead. 'Looking forward to working together,' Rijiju stated on X.

Mahtab, a veteran seven-time member of Lok Sabha, will preside over proceedings and facilitate the oath-taking of new members of Parliament on June 24 and 25. He will also oversee the election of the new Speaker, assisted by a panel of chairpersons, on Wednesday.
