In a heartfelt move, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi traveled to Hathras on Friday to meet the families of the over 100 victims who perished in a deadly stampede. The incident occurred at a satsang organized by a self-styled godman, Baba Bhole.
Gandhi's trip started early morning from Delhi, joined by state Congress chief Ajay Rai, state party in-charge Avinash Pande, spokesperson Supriya Shrinate, and other officials. His first stop was Aligarh, where he spoke with the kin of victims from the area.
Despite Congress not currently being in power, Gandhi assured families that he would strive to help them, stressing the importance of their plight to the government. Additionally, the Uttar Pradesh government has formed a three-member judicial commission to investigate the causative factors of the tragedy, including potential conspiratorial elements.
