George Clooney Calls for Biden to Withdraw from Re-Election Bid
Actor George Clooney has urged President Joe Biden to step down from his re-election campaign, citing concerns about the President's performance and capability. Clooney, who hosted a major fundraiser for Biden, expressed these views in the New York Times, warning that continuing Biden's bid could hurt the Democratic Party.
Actor George Clooney, a prominent Hollywood fundraiser for Democrats, has called on President Joe Biden to end his re-election campaign. Clooney, who hosted a major fundraiser for Biden in June, argued that Biden is no longer the same leader who won the White House in 2020.
Clooney's public critique follows Biden's lackluster performance in a debate against Donald Trump and has been echoed by other Hollywood donors and Democratic allies. Netflix co-founder Reed Hastings, Disney heir Abigail Disney, and filmmaker Rob Reiner have also urged Biden to withdraw.
Clooney recommended that the Democratic Party choose a new nominee at its August convention, mentioning Vice President Kamala Harris and several state governors as potential candidates.
