Karnataka Deputy CM Criticizes ED Raids in Valmiki Development Case

Karnataka Deputy CM D K Shivakumar has condemned the Enforcement Directorate’s raids linked to the Valmiki Development Corporation. He emphasized that a state-formed SIT was already investigating the issue and claimed that former Minister B Nagendra and MLA Basanagouda Daddal were not involved.

Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar criticized the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday, calling its raids in the Valmiki Development Corporation case unwarranted. The raids were conducted at multiple locations allegedly connected to former Karnataka Minister B Nagendra and MLA Basanagouda Daddal.

Addressing reporters at the Nonavinakere Kadasiddeshwara mutt, Shivakumar stated, "The Special Investigation Team (SIT) set up by the state government is already investigating the case; there was no need for ED raids." He argued that the banks should handle any proceedings involving significant sums of money.

Shivakumar expressed confidence in Nagendra, saying, "Nagendra is not at fault. I am confident that he will come out clean after the investigations." He reiterated that the SIT's inquiry revealed no involvement of Nagendra and Valmiki Board Chairman Daddal.

On his visit to Nonavinakere Mutt, Shivakumar remarked that this long-standing practice was rooted in faith. He also mentioned the development of a road to the Siddeshwara temple and addressing objections raised by the Forest Department.

Regarding the Channapatna by-polls, Shivakumar asserted his candidacy, stating, "Whoever contests from Channapatna, I am the candidate."
