Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi has urged people to avoid using derogatory language against former Union minister Smriti Irani and other leaders.
His statement followed online criticism directed at Irani after she vacated her official bungalow in Delhi post her electoral defeat by Congress' Kishori Lal Sharma in Amethi.
“Winning and losing are parts of life. Insulting others is a sign of weakness, not strength,” Gandhi said on X.
BJP's Amit Malviya criticized Gandhi's remarks, calling them disingenuous. “After unleashing Congress leaders like a pack of wolves on Irani, this message is hypocritical,” Malviya said on X.
Irani, who was dubbed a giant slayer for defeating Gandhi in Amethi in 2019, vacated her bungalow after losing by over 1.6 lakh votes.
