Priyanka Gandhi Slams NDA's 'Constitution Murder Day' Declaration

In response to the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) led central government's declaration to observe June 25 as 'Samvidhan Hatya Diwas' (Constitution Murder Day), Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra delivered a vehement criticism. Speaking on Saturday, Vadra stated that those who persistently 'attacked the spirit of the Constitution' through their decisions and actions would mark the day with negative politics.

The central government announced on Friday that June 25, the date when Emergency was imposed in 1975 under Prime Minister Indira Gandhi's Congress regime, would be commemorated as 'Samvidhan Hatya Diwas.' In a post on 'X,' Priyanka Gandhi Vadra stressed that individuals who believe in the Constitution would defend it.

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra's criticism of the government was echoed by other opposition voices. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge remarked on X that the government has been celebrating 'Samvidhan Hatya Diwas' daily for the past decade, oppressing the disadvantaged sections of society. Trinamool Congress leader Kunal Ghosh argued that the BJP was using this move to divert attention from its controversial policies.
