Independent Candidate Triumphs at Rupauli Bypoll

Independent candidate Shankar Singh emerged victorious in the Rupauli assembly bypoll, defeating JD(U) nominee Kaladhar Prasad Mandal by 8,246 votes. Singh secured 68,070 votes, while Mandal received 59,824 votes. The bypoll was required following MLA Bima Bharti’s resignation after joining RJD and contesting as their candidate.

Independent candidate Shankar Singh clinched a notable victory in the Rupauli assembly bypoll held in Bihar’s Purnea district, defeating Kaladhar Prasad Mandal of JD(U) by a margin of 8,246 votes.

According to the Election Commission, Singh garnered approximately 68,070 votes, while Mandal obtained 59,824 votes. Former MLA Bima Bharti, representing RJD, finished third with 30,619 votes.

The bypoll became necessary due to Bharti’s resignation from JD(U). She switched allegiance to RJD to contest the Lok Sabha elections but later competed in the assembly bypoll after her parliamentary bid proved unsuccessful.
