Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's wife, Sunita Kejriwal, and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Sanjay Singh met with Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren and his spouse, Kalpana Soren, at the latter's official residence on Saturday. AAP's social media post emphasized unity against what it termed as dictatorship.
The meeting comes amid allegations that the BJP conspired to defame Arvind Kejriwal. The official AAP statement mentioned that BJP's attempts were thwarted as the Supreme Court granted bail to Kejriwal, calling it a victory for democracy over dictatorship. Hemant Soren also criticized the BJP for humiliating the judiciary and expressed hope for Kejriwal's imminent release.
Soren, recently out on bail from Birsa Munda Jail, had also spoken against the BJP, asserting that Indian citizens are tolerant but decisive when necessary. Despite the Supreme Court granting Kejriwal interim bail on Friday, he remains in custody on separate charges by the CBI. This ongoing legal battle underscores the charged political atmosphere.
