Iran's newly elected president, Masoud Pezeshkian, has pledged to foster balanced international relations while maintaining national interests and promoting peace. In a message to the United States, he asserted that Iran will not succumb to pressure.
Pezeshkian, who triumphantly won the July 5 runoff election, emphasized the importance of maintaining strong relationships with neighboring countries and urged Arab nations to encourage a cease-fire in the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict. He expressed unwavering support for the Palestinian resistance and praised long-standing alliances with Russia and China.
Pezeshkian highlighted the successful normalization of relations with Saudi Arabia, brokered by China, and aims to continue constructive engagement with European nations, despite past tensions. He accused the U.S. of causing significant economic harm to Iran through sanctions imposed following its withdrawal from the 2015 nuclear agreement. Pezeshkian, aligned with moderate and reformist figures, faces domestic challenges, including high inflation and unemployment, as he transitions into his new role.
