Suspect Identified in Attempted Assassination of Donald Trump

Thomas Matthew Crooks, a 20-year-old from Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, has been identified as the suspect in the attempted assassination of former U.S. President Donald Trump. Crooks was shot and killed by the Secret Service after allegedly firing shots towards Trump during a campaign rally, also resulting in one death and two critical injuries.

The FBI has identified Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, from Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, as the suspect in an attempted assassination of former U.S. President Donald Trump during a campaign rally on Saturday. Crooks was shot and killed by the Secret Service shortly after allegedly firing towards the stage where Trump was speaking in Butler, Pennsylvania.

Authorities are working to determine the motive behind the attack, which resulted in one rally attendee's death and two others critically injured. Trump sustained a gunshot wound to the ear. Crooks, a registered Republican, would have been eligible to vote for the first time in the upcoming Nov. 5 election.

According to federal records, Crooks had previously donated to a Democratic PAC at age 17. Following the incident, airspace over Bethel Park was restricted for security reasons. Investigations continue, with law enforcement identifying Crooks through photographs and biometric methods.
