Bharatiya Jantantra Morcha (BJM) chief Saryu Roy announced on Sunday that he is evaluating the possibility of forming an alliance with Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's Janata Dal (United) for the forthcoming Jharkhand assembly elections.
Roy, who left the BJP five years ago and defeated the former Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das in the 2019 assembly elections, met Kumar at his official residence on Saturday. The meeting also saw participation from several senior JD (U) leaders, including Bihar Water Resources Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary.
In a social media post, Roy confirmed the meeting and the fruitful discussions held regarding the potential alliance. He mentioned that although a consensus has been reached, certain issues need further negotiation. Chaudhary, a close confidant of Kumar, also confirmed the discussions but refrained from divulging further details.
