A 50-year-old volunteer firefighter, Corey Comperatore, was shot and killed at a Donald Trump rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday while protecting his family from gunfire. Governor Josh Shapiro confirmed the tragic incident on Sunday and commended Comperatore's heroism in safeguarding his loved ones.

Comperatore, who formerly served as the chief of the Buffalo Township Volunteer Fire Department, was described by Shapiro as a dedicated family man, a devout churchgoer, and an avid Trump supporter. Shapiro conveyed his heartfelt condolences to Comperatore's family during a press briefing.

Trump had just started his speech at the rally when shots were fired, resulting in a bullet grazing Trump's right ear. The FBI has identified Thomas Matthew Crooks, a 20-year-old from Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, as the suspect in the assassination attempt on Trump.
