At a Guna event inaugurating the 'PM College of Excellence,' BJP MLA Pannalal Shakya stirred controversy by advising students to open motorcycle puncture repair shops instead of earning degrees. His surprising remarks coincided with Union Home Minister Amit Shah's e-inauguration of the college in 55 districts, including Guna.

Shakya's comments attracted sharp criticism from Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh, who highlighted the BJP's conflicting economic messages. ''We must credit the BJP for the top-class discipline in their economic messaging. The self-anointed divinity talks about the virtues of selling 'pakodas' as an antidote to unemployment, and their MLAs dismiss college degrees as 'useless' and urge students to open puncture shops,'' Ramesh said on X.

During the event, Shakya also touched on environmental concerns, referencing a record-breaking tree plantation drive in Indore. He criticized the lack of ongoing commitment to environmental preservation and pointed out rampant encroachment on government land along rivers and drains. Furthermore, he noted the public's disregard for the side-effects of their eating habits.
