Union Home Minister Amit Shah intensified his criticism against Congress leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda's 'Hisaab Maange Haryana' campaign on Tuesday, demanding an account of alleged corruption during Hooda's tenure as chief minister. Shah declared, "Baniya Ka Beta Hu, Payi-Payi ka Hisab Lekar Chaltu Hu," emphasizing the BJP's transparency in governance.
Addressing a rally at Haryana Central University, Shah took aim at the Congress campaign, stating, "Hooda Sahab, I have come here with the accounts, what will you ask for?" He challenged Hooda to publicly compare a decade of BJP's developmental works with Congress's. Shah revealed that BJP workers would visit 6,250 village panchayats to communicate their achievements, contrasting the Rs 41,000 crores sanctioned by Congress with the Rs 2.69 lakh crores sanctioned under PM Modi and Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar.
Earlier, on July 11, Bhupinder Singh Hooda, leader of the opposition in Haryana Assembly, outlined the objectives of the 'Haryana Maange Hisaab' campaign. Hooda stated that the campaign aims to connect with the public, gather complaints, and incorporate these into the party's manifesto for the upcoming state elections, while exposing what he described as the BJP government's failures. The Haryana Assembly elections are scheduled for later this year, with the campaign targeting all 90 assembly constituencies.
