In a significant political move, the Uttarakhand Congress announced plans to stage a padyatra starting July 24 in opposition to the proposed construction of a Kedarnath temple replica in Delhi.
The 'Kedarnath Bachao Padyatra' will commence from Haridwar, with participants taking a ceremonial bath in the Ganga at Har Ki Pauri before heading towards Kedarnath Dham. The march is expected to span 14-16 days, covering various regions of Garhwal.
Uttarakhand Congress president Karan Mahara stated the yatra's intent to safeguard the sanctity of the Kedarnath temple. Senior Congress leader Harish Rawat confirmed his participation, emphasizing the ongoing struggle to protect the temple's honor against perceived political exploitation by the BJP.
