Mamata Banerjee to Attend Crucial NITI Aayog Meeting

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is slated to attend the NITI Aayog's Governing Council meeting in New Delhi next week, an official confirmed on Friday.
According to the official, Banerjee is expected to leave for the national capital on July 25. The meeting, which will be chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is scheduled for July 27.
During the meeting, Banerjee is likely to bring up issues concerning central dues to the state as well as funds for rural housing and the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA). Moreover, the Trinamool Congress leader plans to meet with MPs and senior leaders from the opposition INDIA bloc while in New Delhi. The Governing Council of NITI Aayog includes all chief ministers, lieutenant governors of Union Territories, and several Union ministers.
