Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel has officially summoned the next session of the state's Legislative Assembly and Council. According to an official statement, the session will commence on July 29, 2024, at 11:00 AM in Lucknow's Vidhan Sabha Mandap.

This will be the first session of the Uttar Pradesh legislature following the recent Lok Sabha general elections. The 18th legislative assembly has seen significant political changes, including Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav stepping down as the Leader of Opposition after being elected as an MP from Kannauj.

The position of Leader of Opposition in UP's Legislative Assembly remains vacant, with the main opposition party expected to name a successor soon.
