Opposition Gears Up for Contentious Budget Session

Opposition parties and smaller political groups have requested the government to discuss several contentious issues during the upcoming Budget session of Parliament. Key issues include NEET exam paper leaks, controversial orders related to the Kanwar Yatra route, and the demand for special category status for certain states. The government has expressed willingness to discuss these matters but stressed collaboration for smooth parliamentary proceedings.

On the eve of the Budget session, opposition parties and minor political factions convened to demand that the government address various contentious issues in Parliament. Their concerns range from the leaks in the prestigious NEET exam to controversial orders concerning the Kanwar Yatra route.

In an unprecedented move, the government invited numerous smaller parties to signal its political outreach and expressed readiness to discuss all issues. However, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju emphasized that such discussions must adhere to parliamentary rules, urging all parties to cooperate for the smooth functioning of Parliament.

Key demands included special category status for states like Bihar, Odisha, and Andhra Pradesh, and the allocation of the Lok Sabha deputy speaker's position to the opposition. The opposition also expressed concerns over rising terror attacks, the situation in Manipur, and economic issues like unemployment and price rise.
